Abstract

High spin states in Y86 were studied through the Rb85(α,3n) reaction at energies between 30 and 55 MeV, using techniques of in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy. Eight levels were observed on top of the Jπ=8+ (218.3 keV) metastable state which are connected by γ rays in cascade and five levels decaying to the Jπ=5 (208.1 keV) excited state. The former were interpreted in terms of the weak coupling of the proton π(1g92) and the neutron hole v1(1g92) coupled to the Sr86 excited states on the basis of the shell model.
