Abstract

The magnetic moment of the 41+ state in Ne20 was measured by the transient field technique, and the transient field was calibrated in a simultaneous measurement on the 21+ state. The resulting g(41+)=0.49±0.34 is in agreement with the shell model description of Ne20. The magnitude of the transient field measured in previous experiments on O, Ne, and Mg ions traversing iron foils was reexamined and appears to be in good agreement with the results of this experiment.
