Abstract

It is shown that a spin-orbit potential in heavy ion scattering damps a pronounced oscillation of angular distributions of the backward angle anomaly. The angular distributions with the damped oscillation at back angles in Be9 + C12 scattering are analyzed with a parity dependent optical model by introducing a spin-orbit potential, and fairly good agreement with the data is obtained.
