Relation between coherent π0 photoproduction and π-nucleus elastic scattering

Abstract

We show that, at energies of the (3,3) resonance, the angular distributions for coherent, nuclear π0 photoproduction and elastic π-nucleus scattering are approximately related through simple geometric and kinematic factors.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Coherent (γ, π0) process versus π-nucleus elastic scattering; targets O16, Si28, Ca48; calculated in isobar propagator formalism.
