Quasifree scattering at low energies in Li6(α, 2α)H2

Abstract

αα quasifree scattering was investigated in the reaction Li6(α, 2α)H2 as a function of energy of the incident α particles. In the energy range Eα=6.6 to 13.0 MeV 51 spectra under kinematically complete conditions were obtained at symmetrical angles such that the spectator momentum p5L=0. The widths and magnitudes of the spectator momentum distributions are strongly energy dependent. This dependence can be reproduced by a plane wave impulse approximation modified by a reflection coefficient calculated semiclassically in WKB approximation.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Li6(α, 2α)H2, Eα=6.613.0 MeV, α1=α2=90°, Φα1=0°, Φα2=180° (c.m. in quasifree subsystem); measured d3σdΩ3dΩ4dE(3, Φ3, 4, Φ4, E1L); deduced spectator momentum distributions at 51 energies; deduced modified PWIA.
