Abstract

The 6Li(n, α)3H cross section has been precisely measured between 12.0 and 18.2 MeV. The reactions are observed in a 6LiI(Eu) scintillator which serves simultaneously both as a target and a detector of the charged particle reaction products. A careful evaluation is made of the sources of experimental error including the attenuation of the neutron beam, self-shielding of the scintillator, peak area analysis and multiple scattering effects.
