Abstract

The use of polarized electron-polarized hadron scattering to probe quark spin correlations is discussed. A parton model, incorporating QCD predicted quark polarization, is constructed for electron scattering on 3He and results for the asymmetry are compared with a spin-independent convolution model. Due to a large background of quasi-elastic knockout the signature for quark spin correlation is very small. It is pointed out that quasi-elastic knockout with polarized electrons may be useful, for example, in determining the neutron electric form factor.
