Abstract

The reactions Ca40(p, pn)Ca39 and Ca48(p, pn)Ca47 were studied at 149.5 MeV in coplanar geometries. An overall separation energy resolution of about 1 MeV was achieved. Probable neutron-hole strength is seen for 1d52 and 1p shell knockout from both targets. The data are compared with distorted-wave-impulse-approximation calculations and spectroscopic factors are extracted for neutron-hole states.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Ca40,48(p, pn)Ca39,47, E=149.5 MeV; measured pn coincidences; extracted neutron separation energy spectra and cross sections d3σdΩndΩpdEp for neutron-hole states. Compared cross sections with distorted-wave-impulse-approximation calculations; extracted spectroscopic factors C2S for neutron-hole states.
