An inspection of primary γ-ray branching ratios for resonances below ER=3.0 MeV in the 26Mg+p reaction (Qpγ=8.27 MeV) reveals that the majority of γ-ray decays proceed to the five lowest-lying levels in 27Al with excitation energies of Ex<3.0 MeV [1,13]. Similar arguments hold for (p,γ) reactions on other target nuclei in the sd-shell [14,15].
