Abstract

The cross sections for the reactions C12(K±,K±)C12* (Jπ=2+, Ex=4.44 MeV; Jπ=0+, Ex=7.65 MeV, and Jπ=3, Ex=9.64 MeV) at incident momentum plab=800 MeV/c are calculated in the distorted wave impulse approximation. Multiple scattering effects are taken into account by means of the K±-nucleus elastic scattering amplitudes. The results are compared with recent data for the reactions leading to the 2+ and 3 states. The difference between the angular patterns of the cross sections for the K and K+ scattering is mainly due to the fact that the KN scattering amplitude depends strongly on the momentum transfer compared with the K+N amplitude.
