Abstract

Analyzing powers for the He4(p,2p)H3 reaction have been measured at 250 and 500 MeV for three pairs of quasifree angles, i.e., 55°-25°, 50°-30°, and 45°-35°. The range of recoil momenta covered is from zero to 150 MeV/c. The data have been compared with distorted-wave impulse approximation predictions. In general only reasonable agreement is obtained, pointing to deficiencies in the distorted wave impulse approximation even at low recoil momenta.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS He4(p,2p)H3; measured Ay(θ3,θ4,T3), 250, 500 MeV, quasifree angles; comparison with DWIA calculations.
