Abstract

Forward nuclear amplitude for scattering of charged pions from C12 nuclei has been calculated by extrapolation of the available data to the forward angle in the (32, 32) resonance region. The analysis is independent of any nuclear model. The values of σel, σinel, and [(dσNdΩ)(0°)]el are reported. Substantial difference, indicative of Coulomb distortion, is found for oppositely charged pions.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C12(π±, π±), Tlab=115280 MeV; calculated forward nuclear amplitude, σel, σinel, [(dσNdΩ)(0°)]el, pole subtraction method.
