Abstract

Mutual excitation of projectile and target has been measured for 28Si+60Ni scattering. A coupled channels analysis of the angular distribution is in good agreement with the data and is used to demonstrate the important interference of Coulomb and nuclear amplitudes in both simultaneous and sequential excitation.
