Arguments against a breathing mode interpretation of the 20.1 MeV 0+ excitation in 4He

Abstract

A shell-model calculation including 2p-2h configurations casts doubts on the usual breathing-mode interpretation for the first excited 0+ state in 4He. A simple 2p-2h excitation as predominant component could account for the experimental facts.
