Abstract

Alpha-particle and γ-ray spectral measurements were made for Fr205208. A new α emitter (T12=0.7±0.1 sec and Eα=6.930±0.005 MeV) was observed and identified with the decay of a previously unknown isomer in Fr206. From the α particle and γ ray intensities, α decay branching ratios were deduced for Fr205208 utilizing available information concerning the nuclides' (electron capture + positron) decay properties. Reduced widths were calculated and compared with those of neighboring nuclei.

RADIOACTIVITY Fr205,206,207,208, measured Eγ, Iγ, Eα, Iα; deduced α-branching ratios; identified Frm206. Mass separation.
