Possible evidence for the existence of intermediate resonant structure in the ⁹Be+¹³C heavy-ion system

Excitation functions of the ¹³C(⁹Be, alpha )¹⁸O*(0.0, 0⁺ and 1.98 MeV, 2⁺) reactions at theta _lab=15 degrees , 35 degrees , 45 degrees and 65 degrees (125 degrees for some energies) have been measured in the energy region E_lab=8.0-22.75 MeV. A statistical analysis (correlation and deviation functions) of the data has been performed; the analysis has revealed four strongly correlated anomalies of an intermediate width. An estimate of the probability of the statistical origin for these anomalies indicates that they may be regarded as possible resonance candidates, especially the one at E_lab approximately=12.25 MeV.
