Abstract

A systematic comparison between experimental total, elastic and non-elastic cross sections for 14 MeV neutrons over the periodic table and the values obtained by using various available global optical-model potentials shows discrepancies. A new global potential, obtained by modifying the Wilmore-Hodgson potential, describes satisfactorily these data as well as angular distributions.
