Abstract
Angular distributions for the elastic and inelastic scattering of 291-MeV and by , Si, , and have been measured. The characteristics of two first-order optical potentials have been investigated, and reasonable agreement with the elastic scattering data has been obtained. Macroscopic distorted-wave impulse approximation calculations of the inelastic scattering with Kisslinger potentials are reasonably successful in reproducing the experimental data. The inelastic scattering results for provide evidence for the importance of radial localization effects in pion inelastic scattering.
