Abstract

The giant resonance region of C12 has been investigated by small angle scattering of 104 MeV α particles. No evidence was found for concentrated monopole strength. Monopole strength around Ex=9.15 MeV (Γ=1.8 MeV, 2.1% energy-weighted sum rule) recently observed in a He3 scattering experiment could not be confirmed.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C12(α,α); Eα=104 MeV. Measured Ex,σ(θ) for giant resonance region.
