Abstract

Fission probability distributions of U236 and Pu240 compound systems have been measured with the (C12, Beg.s.8) reaction in the excitation energy range of 7-16 MeV using 65 MeV projectiles. Identification of Beg.s.8 as two highly correlated alpha particles showed that under the conditions of this experiment Beg.s.8 can be separated from Li7 in a simple ΔEE system. The results are in good agreement with fission probabilities derived from neutron induced fission of U235 and Pu239.
