Abstract

Angular distributions of the analyzing power A(θ) and the differential cross section dσ(θ)dΩ for the reaction Be9(ppol, π)C10(g.s.) have been measured with 200-MeV polarized protons at laboratory angles between 25° and 150°. The measured A(θ), which is negative for θπc.m.70° and positive thereafter, is quite different from those of (ppol,π+) reactions, for which A(θ) is typically negative at all angles. The present dσ(θ)dΩ is backward peaked, unlike all previously measured (p,π) distributions.
