Abstract
Elastic scattering angular distributions have been measured for the systems + at MeV and + at MeV. The and data are oscillatory and similar for angles less than 50° c.m. For angles greater than 50° c.m., the oscillations in the data are damped and the data stop decreasing with increasing angle. Elastic scattering angular distributions have been calculated for + with the coupling to the ground-state quadrupole moment included explicitly. Potentials which describe the scattering are extracted with the double folding model. It is found that the quadrupole coupling is necessary to explain the difference in and scattering from .
