Abstract

The static quadrupole moments of the first 2+ excited states of Ru96,98,100,102,104 were measured employing the reorientation effect in Coulomb excitation. For constructive interference via the second 2+ excited states the determined quadrupole moments are (-0.13±0.09) eb for Ru96, (-0.20±0.09) eb for Ru98, (-0.43±0.07) eb for Ru100, (-0.57±0.07) eb for Ru102, and (-0.70±0.08) eb for Ru104. These Q2+ represent, respectively, 29%, 36%, 67%, 78%, and 84% of the rotational value.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Ru96,98,100,102,104(α,α), E=8.59.5 MeV; Ru96,98,100,102,104(O16, O'16), (O16,O16γ), E=3644.8 MeV; measured σ(E,θ) deduced Q2+, B(Eλ), B(M1), J, π, T12. Enriched targets.
