Abstract

Differential cross sections are reported for (π+,p) reactions to discrete final states over the range θ=2095 (116°) and for the inclusive (π±,p) reactions in Li6 at θ=20° to the continuum. The continuum cross sections indicate the predominance of the two-nucleon pion absorption mechanism where (π,p) shows the importance of multiple (charge-exchange) scattering. The combined use of the exclusive and inclusive cross sections is discussed.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Li6,7(π+,p)Li5,6, Tπ=75 MeV, θ=20116°, Tπ=175 MeV, θp=2095° measured σ(θ); Li6(π±,p), Tπ=75, 175 MeV, θp=20° measured σ(Tp); discussed reaction mechanism effects.
