Abstract
We report here the results of the calculation of total muon capture rates () in Ne isotopes using Hartree-Fock wave functions. These wave functions are generated from (a) a phenomenological set of interaction matrix elements and (b) a microscopic set derived from the Reid soft core potential. Satisfactory agreement with the experiment both for the spectra of and the in is obtained. The trend of the variation of in Ne isotopes as predicted by the empirical formulas is explained by incorporating the oblate admixture in the ground states of and .
