Transparency to the l=9 Partial Wave in the Region of the 14.7-MeV Resonance in C12 + O16

Abstract

A comparison of elastic scattering and total reaction cross-section data in the region of the 9, 14.7-MeV resonance in O16 + C12 is presented. The comparison provides firm evidence that there is very little background absorption of the l=9 partial wave. The implications are discussed. A partial-width decomposition of the resonance is made.
