Abstract

For elastic scattering of 20-MeV polarized deuterons from ${}^{4}{He}$ we measured vector and tensor analyzing powers including $A_{xz} (θ)$ . An optical-model analysis demands a tensor term of 13 MeV, which exceeds the folding-model value by a factor of 2.
