Ground-state (p, t) cross sections for sd-shell nuclei

Abstract

Ground-state (p, t) cross sections measured for five sd-shell nuclei are, with one exception, explained well by the shell-model calculations of Chung and Wildenthal. The deviation in the case of the O18(p, t)O16 reaction is quantitatively explained by taking account of the core-excited components in O16 and O18.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS O18, Ne22, Mg26, Si30, S34(p, t) to ground states, Ep=23 MeV, measured σ(θ), enriched targets. DWBA analysis; comparison with shell model.
