Spin-orbit parameters from the polarization in 1 GeV proton-nucleus scattering

Abstract

Polarization data for elastic scattering of 1 GeV protons from nuclei are presented. The data have been analyzed in terms of Glauber theory and the spin-orbit proton-nucleon amplitude has been determined. Inclusion of the spin-orbit interaction in the analysis is shown to have a small effect on the extracted matter distributions.
