Search for αα* rotational levels in Be8

Abstract

The differential cross sections for H2(Li6,α)α* (20.08 MeV) and H2(Li6,α)α were measured at 30° c.m. for ELi=10 to 31 MeV. Possible evidence is presented for Be8 states decaying by α* emission, near the 3 and 4+ levels of an αα* rotational band in Be8 predicted by resonating group calculations.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS H2(Li6,α)* and H2(Li6,α)α, E=10 to 31 MeV. Be8 levels.
