Abstract

Cross sections and integrated cross sections for photodisintegration of ¹⁹F to excited residual states following emission of protons, neutrons and α-particles have been measured. The size of the photo-α cross sections appear to be too large to be explained by a semidirect reaction mechanism.

Photodisintegration of <sup>29, 30</sup>Si to excited residual states

The decay of the giant dipole resonance (GDR) in ²⁹Si and ³⁰Si was studied by measuring spectra of de-excitation γ-rays emitted from the residual nuclei following photodisintegration. Energy-integrated cross sections for photoreactions in ²⁹Si and ³⁰Si which lead to specific residual states were measured and estimates were made of the total ²⁹Si(γ, p), ³⁰Si(γ, p) and ³⁰Si(γ, np) cross sections. These results are compared with data derived from single-nucleon transfer reactions to resolve the 1p-1h nature of the GDR in the nuclei ^29,30Si.
The giant dipole resonance in light nuclei and related phenomena

The present-day status of the giant dipole resonance (GDR) in light nuclei is discussed with main emphasis on the supermultiplet and configurational splitting of GDR, which are its most important features. A great wealth of experimental data, which confirm the existence of the above phenomenon are presented. Consideration is also given to the related problems, such as radiative pion capture and muon capture, spin-isospin dipole excitations, the role of the supermultiplet structure of nuclear levels in the formation of hypernuclear states in processes of the coherent substitution of hyperons for nucleons.
