Differences in O16 and O18 induced inelastic scattering

Abstract

Elastic and inelastic scattering excitation functions for Cr52 and Fe54 by O16 and O16 have been measured. The inelastic data associated with O16 and O18 on common targets are very different. Optical model and distorted-wave Born approximation calculations indicate that multistep processes involving the projectile states are responsible.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Cr52, Fe54 (O16, O16), (O18, O18), E=3042 MeV; measured σ(E). DWBA analysis, deduced optical parameters, B(E2), βn.
