Inclusive ($p$,${\pi }^{+}$) cross sections have been measured for fourteen targets from ${}_{}{}^{10}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{B}$ to ${}_{}{}^{208}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Pb}$ at ≈ 8 MeV and ≈ 16 MeV above threshold by detecting ${\mu }^{+}$ decays. The cross sections are largest near mass 40 and increase rapidly with excitation energy.
