Abstract

Angle-integrated (p,π+) cross sections on Be9, B10, B11, C12, C13, N14, and O16 have been measured over the energy range 0.5TpTthreshold10 MeV by detecting μ+ decays. By combining the present results with higher energy measurements we show that, for 1p-shell targets, the energy dependence of the (p,π+) reaction from Tπ0.5 to50 MeV can be explained in terms of pion phase space and barrier penetration.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Be9(p,π+)Be10, B10,11(p,π+)B11,12, C12,13(p,π+)C13,14, N14(p,π+)N15, and O16(p,π+)O17, TpTthreshold: 0.510 MeV, measured angleintegrated cross sections.
