Abstract

An angular correlation technique has been utilized to study the spins of several intermediate width resonances in the inelastic scattering of 16O + 12C in the range 19 ⩽ Ecm ⩽ 23 MeV. An analysis of the correlations and previously reported angular distributions strongly indicates that interpretations of these structures in terms of a single rotational band are inadequate.
