Abstract

Alpha-particle spectra resulting from the bombardment of douterons with α-particles have been measured at energies of 20.4, 24.2 and 28.1 MeV for all kinematically possible scattering angles θ1ab > 5°. Angular distributions for the break-up cross section have been obtained by integration over the α-particle energy. The total reaction cross section is computed by extrapolating the angular distributions to 0°. The results are compared with predictions calculated from α-d phase shifts and Faddeev theory.
