Abstract
Measured alpha-particle widths are compared with single-particle alpha widths calculated in a Woods-Saxon well for all 1/2+, 3/2+, 5/2+ and 7/2+ states between 5 and 9 MeV in 19F. A good correspondence can be made between the 2N+L=9, L=1 and 3 alpha -reduced widths in 19F and in 20Ne if the 7.11 MeV state of 19F has Jpi =5/2+ rather than 7/2+.
