Abstract

The superallowed β+ decay of Ga62 has been studied, using plastic and semiconductor ΔEE telescopes. The reaction Ni58(Li6,2n)Ga62 was used to produce Ga62, with ELi6=25 MeV. A half-life of 116.34±0.35 ms was obtained, and the total decay energy QEC was measured to be 9171±26 keV. After applying radiative and charge-dependent corrections, the "corrected" ft value Ft=3081±47 s was obtained, in excellent agreement with the value from Fermi decays in A54 nuclei.

RADIOACTIVITY Ga62, measured T12, Eβ+; deduced QEC, ft. High purity Ge, Si(Li), plastic detectors.
