Abstract

The validity of the factorization in the cross section of quasi-free (e, e′p) reactions is discussed. The results of the conventional DWIA analysis are compared with those obtained in a general approach in which the reaction cross section is written without the factorization in terms of the non-diagonal spectral function and the off-shell two-body electron-nucleon scattering amplitude. Numerical results for the reaction 12C(e, e′p)11B are given under different kinematical conditions. It is shown that the validity of the factorized DWIA analysis is limited by the kinematical conditions.
