Abstract

Differential cross sections and analyzing powers have been measured for elastic and inelastic scattering of 800-MeV protons by O16. Microscopic analyses utilizing the impulse approximation are used to study the ground-state neutron distribution of O16, and to demonstrate the importance of the spin-orbit amplitudes for the inelastic transitions.
