Abstract

The proton elastic scattering cross sections for C13 have been measure at eight angles for proton energies from 9.1 to 18.4 MeV. Angular distributions of cross sections and analyzing powers were measured at 20 angles in 7.5° steps over the range of 30° to 155° at ten energies between 10 and 17.5 MeV. A spin-½ on spin-½ phase-shift analysis was performed starting with spin-½ on spin-0 phase shifts obtained from an optical model analysis. The transformation from the ½ on 0 case to the ½ on ½ case, when the second ½ spin is totally ineffective, is presented and utilized. The results suggest that broad resonances are present near Ex=21.5 MeV in N14.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS C13(p, p); measured σ(E, θ), E=9.118.4 MeV; measured A(E, θ), E=1017.5 MeV. Phase-shift analyzed. Examined for effects of broad resonances. Enriched targets.
