Abstract

Particle-gamma angular correlation measurements on the 36S(α, nγ)39Ar and 38Ar(d, pγ)39Ar reactions and DSA lifetime measurements with the (α, nγ) reaction have been performed at bombarding energies of Ea = 6.0, 6.6 and 7.8 MeV and Ed = 4.4 MeV. Unambiguous spin and parity assignments of 32+, 52, 32, 72, 32, 52 and 32 were made for the Ex = 1.52, 2.09, 2.43, 2.48, 2.63, 2.76 and 3.27 MeV levels, respectively. In addition precise excitation energies and γ-ray branching ratios, mixing ratios and mean lives were determined for levels below 3.6 MeV.
