Abstract

The differential cross section and the analyzing power Ay for Be9(t,t)Be9 and C12(t,t)C12 elastic scattering have been measured at 15 and 17 MeV over the angular range θlab=17.5165.0. The data in the forward hemisphere have been analyzed with a standard optical model. A large depth and conventional geometry parameters for the spin-orbit potential have been found. The results of the present analysis are in general agreement with previous work involving polarized tritons scattered from heavy target nuclei and show important differences from investigations of the scattering of polarized helions on light nuclei.
