Abstract

We suggest that the properties of decoupled bands associated with high -j single-particle orbitals are similar to those of Kπ = 12 bands associated with j = 12 orbitals. Special attention is focussed on the so-called antialigned states. As an illustrative example we have studied the Kπ = 12 bands in 19F and 23Na, where the level energies and electromagnetic transition rates are evaluated in a simple weak-coupling model.
