Abstract

One-body G-matrix vertices are incorporated in the 2p1h multiple-scattering formalism so that all low-lying 2p1h correlations are treated in an essentially exact way. The problem of c.m. motion is treated by an adapted method which is appropriate for the valence-linked expansion. With these methods, the valence energies of the 0d52, 1s12 and 0d32 orbits of 17O are evaluated accurate, energy-dependent reaction matrix. The valence energies obtained are in very reasonable agreement with the experimental excitation energies, although the absolute energy is about 1 MeV too repulsive.
