Abstract

The low-lying level structure of U233 has been studied with the U234(d,t) and the U234(He3,α) reactions, induced by 14-MeV deuterons and 30-MeV He3 particles, respectively. Levels below 1 MeV of excitation energy are identified and their cross sections are compared with theoretical values, calculated including both Coriolis and ΔN=2 mixing. Nilsson band assignments are made and discussed.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS U234(d,t), Elab=14 MeV; U234(He3,α), Elab=30 MeV; measured σ(θ), deduced l values, Nilsson configurations, and level scheme of U233.
