Abstract

The γ rays following the β decay of 10.30-min Sn108 and from the in-beam Cd108(p,n)In*108(γ) reaction between 6.5 and 10 MeV have been studied in order to determine the properties of the low-lying levels of In108. Twenty-five γ rays attributed to Sn108 decay were observed. A level scheme of In108 was constructed which contains nine levels, of which only three were previously reported. Spin and parity values are assigned to each level based on angular distribution and excitation function measurements from the (p,nγ) reaction and logft values from Sn108 decay. The level properties of In108 are compared to the levels of Nb94 and interpreted within the framework of jj coupling.
