Abstract

We have calculated the rate for radiative pion capture from a 1s atomic orbital for the He3(π, γ)H3 analog transition. We obtain reasonable agreement with the experimental Panofsky ratio when this radiative capture rate is combined with our estimate of the corresponding He3(π, π0)H3 charge exchange rate. Threshold pion photoproduction cross section estimates are also given.
