Abstract

We investigated radiative proton capture in light nuclei in view of possible tests of meson exchange and nucleon correlation processes. We show that for proton energies between 30 and 100 MeV exchange currents are dominating the angular distributions in forward directions whereas nucleon-nucleon correlations are important mainly in backward directions. In view of possible tests of meson exchange contributions (violation of the Siegert theorem and magnetic exchange currents) precise measurements of the forward γ production would be highly desirable.
