Abstract

In a comparison of the reactions N14(t, p) to the g.s. quadruplet of N16 and N14(He3, p) to the dominantly T=1 analogs in O16, only the 2 levels have the expected cross-section ratio: σ(He3, p)σ(t, p)=0.5. The cross sections for O and 3 levels of O16 are reduced by a further factor of 2. Direct-reaction calculations are unable to reproduce the results.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS N14(t, p), N14(He3, p), E=15.0 MeV; measured σ(Ep, θ). T mixing effect on reaction mechanism.
